A little about myself I was born in Rexburg,
Idaho and as a young lad spent the beginning of my life in that darn
cold city. When I was a kid I was about as blonde as they come. I've been referred to "albino", "peach fuzz" and so forth...
When I turned 10 my family moved to
Alabama with the military. Six months later we headed right back to Idaho, although this time we moved to
Boise. Contray to popular belief I have never worked on a farm raising
potatoes. In fact I wouldn't know how
to grow one if I tried.
In my junior high and high school years
I became in interested in photography. I took three years of photography as well as a journalism class for
my
high school yearbook. In high school alone I took over 200 rolls of film and
spent many hours in the darkroom. I
got a few good prints here and there and placed some of my photography in The
Photographer's Forum Magazine. I also won a Superior award in
photojournalism from the Idaho Journalism Association.
In high school I enjoyed
physics and chemistry and entered the Idaho State Science
Competition and took 2nd place in the Mousetrap Car competition for
distance.
After high school I lived in Japan for two years
as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I
served in the Japan, Tokyo South mission living in the cities of: Machida, Yokohama, Tokorozawa, Hibarigaoka, and Hachioji.
Upon returning home from Japan
I spent a year at Boise State University before transferring to Brigham Young Universtiy. In 2001 graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electronics
Engineering and a minor in Japanese. I did two internships in Japan attempting to apply some engineering skills and learning technical Japanese.
During my internships in Japan I worked for a small engineering firm (Engineering
System CO.) located
in the Japanese Alps in the city of Matsumoto. I learned to fly the world's smallest
counter rotating helicopter. By doing so my role was to demonstrate the
helicopter in one of the world's largest air shows and be a spokesman for the company which spoke very little English. After my first summer in Japan
I demonstrated the helicopter at the Oshkosh AirVenture airshow and was then put on BBC TV in England for a high tech TV show called Tomorrows
World. I was also published in several flying magazines based in the
United States and Europe. The following summer I returned to Japan
with my father. I continued to hone my flying skills while we
assembled four new air craft and learned all we could about the
mechanics of the mini-helicopters. My father then became the United
States dealer for the helicopter and since then we have been
attending air shows around the United States demonstrating and
explaining the unique one-man helicopter. For more info check out

Just after graduation I married the love of my life; the former Julie Stafford. Julie was attending graduate school therefore I decided I might as well do the same. I proceeded to do research in Electronics Manufacturing focusing on robotics and automation. I developed an economical process for placing solder paste on printed circuit boards that did not require expensive stencils required in mass production. This gave us the ability to make prototype printed circuit boards or low volumes of boards at a greatly reduced cost. In the fall of 2003 I completed my research and graduated with a Master's in Electronics
Engineering from BYU.
Soon thereafter I accepted a position with Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. as a Design Engineer. I work at the Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan designing vehicle electrical systems. I have mainly worked on the Toyota Avalon, but have also spent time on the new Toyota Tundra and the all new Toyota Venza.
I enjoy photography and woodworking when time permits. Black & white photography is my favorite but recently I have done mostly portrait photography for engagements and weddings. While writing my Master's thesis in 2003 I built a Japanese style King/Queen convertible bed and took first place in the AWFS show in Anaheim, California in the Casework category. The bed was published in a book called "fresh Wood". Click here to see pictures of the bed.
We now have two lovely little girls that occupy most of our time. Pictures of them can be found throughout this website.
